City officials and members of the downtown community joined the Timberwolves, Lynx and Target Center staff in celebrating the official re-opening of Target Center on October 12. The event showcased the new lobby on the corner of 1st Avenue and 6th Street, which includes a three-level atrium that adds natural light to the building and connects the street to the skyway.
Target Center, which opened in October 1990, underwent a $145 million renovation which began in 2016 and has completely transformed the arena. The renovation included new exterior paneling, new seats, upgraded concourses, a new lobby area, updated connections to the skyway system, new premium spaces, a new scoreboard, new locker rooms and press amenities, and more.
