On Saturday, July 22 at 10 pm, downtown mpls will host one of the top annual firework displays in the nation, the Target Fireworks. The Target Fireworks, which is an Aquatennial flagship event, will close out the 78th Annual Official Civic Celebration of Mpls. The 2017 Aquatennial will feature more than 25 events over a four-day span from July 19-22, all of which will be capped off by the Target Fireworks on Saturday night.
Zambelli Fireworks, which is one of the largest firework and pyrotechnical companies in the USA, will launch over 10,000 pounds of explosives into the sky above the Mississippi River to create the wonderful display of fireworks here in downtown mpls for all to enjoy for free.

The Target Fireworks are no ordinary fireworks. Considered to be one of the top 10 annual displays in the nation, the Target Fireworks show typically draws crowds north of 200,000 people along the Mississippi Riverside. Something unique about the Target Fireworks is that the show is choreographed to match up with music, which can be heard on Go 96.3 FM during the fireworks. Be sure to listen in while you’re watching the skies light up for an experience that is like nothing else.
Some of the best seats for the Target Fireworks are located along the west side of the Mississippi River in downtown mpls. We suggest getting there early to grab your viewing spot because seats fill up quickly. Some spectators even snag their spots before the clock strikes noon on the day of the fireworks.
While waiting for the fireworks to begin, there will be plenty of Aquatennial fun to be had. Pre-firework festivities begin at 6 pm and will last until the Target Fireworks start. Pre-firework activities, which will take place along West River Parkway, will include four different live music performances, food trucks, and a Kids Zone. This year’s Kids Zone will feature a ton of great activities, including a mini-waterslide, a DJ with music, games, prizes, inflatables, and a whole lot more.
