Books & Barks at Lakes and Legends
April 27 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
This April we’re welcoming Legacy Family Center- a local nonprofit that provides culturally appropriate and supportive services that meet West African refugee and immigrant families’ needs, by promoting early literacy and access to resources to enable all family members to thrive in their homes and communities- to the taproom for an event all about the importance of improving literacy!
During this event, we’ll be hanging out with puppies from Healing Hearts Rescue, enjoying live readings from Spanish, Somali, and English-speaking students, and collecting children’s books and donations for Legacy Family Center.
Healing Hearts Rescue will be at the taproom from 4-6 pm with puppies for you and the family to snuggle up with, play with, and maybe even adopt! 😉
Philly Xpress Food Truck will be on-site from 4-9 pm.
Live readings will take place from 5-6 pm, with volunteers from Emerson Dual Language School.
Books can be dropped off at the taproom from 4-9 pm. We are looking for new or gently used books, preferably for ages 0-6.
Donations will be collected throughout the evening!
During the evening we will be putting on a raffle where folks will be able to purchase raffle tickets via cash, book donation, or volunteering to read (this one is kids only).
Following the children’s readings, we will open up the space to be used by adults, After all, literacy is important to EVERYONE!
Adults and older children will be able to take the mic and do live readings of their favorite children’s books, spoken word, poetry, etc. beginning at 7 pm. *MUST be child appropriate.
Bring your blankets, your well-behaved pups, and your family. We’d love to see you support this organization with us. RSVP today!
