X Games, local skateboarding organizations host Go Skateboarding Day on Nicollet

The X Games in partnership with Familia SkateShop, Third Lair, Cal Surf and the Minneapolis Aquatennial hosted Go Skateboarding Day #OnNicollet from 11 am-2 pm on Friday, June 21. The event featured multiple obstacles for skateboarders to come down and try out for free, including the Spoonbridge and Cherry obstacle that will be used at Aquatennial’s AquaJam on Saturday, July 27 from 4-8 pm on West River Parkway near the Stone Arch Bridge.

People lined the streets of Nicollet to see the skateboarders perform, and several special guests were in attendance including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Minnesota Wild standout Jason Zucker, and X Game competitors Dashawn Jordan, Minnesota native Nicole Hause, and Yuto Horigome.

X Games returns to Minneapolis for the third straight year on Aug 1-4 at U.S. Bank Stadium. AquaJam, another free skateboarding event for the public to enjoy, will take place leading up to the Aquatennial’s Target Fireworks.
