The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee and the 2019 Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee held a special hand-off event on Monday to mark the transition from one iconic sporting event in the City of Minneapolis to the next.
A celebration at U.S. Bank Plaza in downtown Minneapolis included Gov. Mark Dayton, Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee leaders Richard Davis and Maureen Bausch, Final Four leaders David Mortenson and Kate Mortenson, former Gophers men’s basketball stars John Thomas and Quincy Lewis, and Goldy Gopher.
The event officially handed off the excitement of Super Bowl in 2018 to the Minneapolis Final Four Local Organizing Committee, which will in roughly 13 months host the Final Four here at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
Fans on hand got to take photos with the 2019 NCAA national championship trophy, get autographs from Lewis and Thomas, meet Goldy, shoot hoops on the pop-a-shot game and more.
The event was free and open to the public. Take a look at a few photos above that highlight the experience.
