MiX brings community together to discuss collaborations for the greater good on Tuesday

The 2017 Minneapolis Idea eXchange (MiX) was held Tuesday, October 24 at Brave New Workshop in downtown mpls. Now in its fourth year, MiX was launched by the mpls downtown council in 2014 as one of 10 initiatives within the The 2025 Plan. A half-hour of networking kicked off at 4:30, while the program began at 5:00. Elena Imaretska of Brave New Workshop led an improv session to begin the program. The improv activity got attendees’ minds prepared for the in-depth panel discussion that followed. This year’s MiX focused on collaborations for the greater good in our communities.

Five mpls leaders and influencers participated in the panel discussion:

  • Jim Delaney, Engine for Good (Panel Moderator)
  • Joy King, Be the Match
  • Ravi Norman, Thor Construction
  • Liz Tupper, Software for Good
  • Tyler Van Eps, Matter NGO

The panelists come from different industries and they each had unique insights to offer during the conversation. Once the panel discussion ended, there was a social activity that required attendees to think outside of the box: they had to develop innovative solutions to aid mpls with a $0 budget. After this, the evening concluded with a powerful presentation from Be the Match, a nationwide bone marrow donation organization.
