Prolific chef and restaurateur Daniel Del Prado (Sanjusan, Colita, Martina) has teamed with culinary whiz Shawn McKenzie on a new food concept for the Walker Art Center, Cardamom is a natural progression of McKenzie’s Turkish menu at Café Cerés. Think: easygoing counter service coupled with unique fare like tuna tabbouleh; a fried chicken sandwich topped with pickled zucchini and harissa honey; and unbelievably delicious Mediterranean corn massaged with rose za’atar, serrano, lime labneh, and feta. Check out the Walker’s newest exhibitions after your meal; calendar-worthy highlights include a highly anticipated David Hockney retrospective (December 18, 2021 to August 21, 2022) and mid-career survey of the Ethiopia-born, Harlem-based abstract painter Julie Mehretu (October 16, 2021 to March 6, 2022). Hot tip: For free admission to the galleries, time your visit to Target Free Thursday Nights every week between 5 and 9 p.m.
