Good Morning Minneapolis: workforce development

The mpls regional chamber, mpls downtown council and Meet Minneapolis held its latest Good Morning Minneapolis event on Friday at Minneapolis College (formerly Minneapolis Community & Technical College).  The topic of conversation focused on the workforce tomorrow and how we can today help create a strong workforce development model that will help our entire community succeed.

Speakers at Friday’s Good Morning Minneapolis included:

Vincent Thomas – Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Minneapolis College

Khadija Ali – President & CEO, Global Language Connections

Eric Muschler – Program Officer Region & Communities, McKnight Foundation

The MSP region is known for its steady economy and strong workforce, yet our employment disparities are some of the worst in the nation for workers from communities of color in terms of access to training and finding the right employment. We also face an overall projected worker shortage. This panel discussed how the region will meet the growing demand for technical workers, develop job training and prepare for an increasingly complex working environment.
