Requiem for the Living

The Edina Chorale in collaboration with The Mississippi Valley Orchestra and Chorus Polaris present Dan Forrest’s magnificent choral-orchestral masterpiece, “Requiem For the Living.” The concert opens with Ruth Gipps’ Song for Orchestra as part of the season-long exploration of the composer’s music by the Mississippi Valley Orchestra. Taiwanese pianist and top prizewinner of international piano competitions, Fanya Lin, will then join forces with the orchestra to perform Sergei Prokofiev’s formidable Piano Concerto No. 2. The second half of the concert features the full orchestra, soloists, and a 100+ voiced choir performing Dan Forrest’s stunning and contemporary take on the traditional Latin Requiem. Forrest’s interpretation is filled with light and hope for those who live on.
