Raise the Torch For Liberty – July 4h at Noon – The Commons

July 4 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

On July 4, 2026, 1,000 people will come together at the Commons in downtown Minneapolis to create a human rendering of the Statue of Liberty. Together, we will raise our torches and affirm a simple but powerful belief: the promises of liberty, equality, and justice belong to everyone.

This assembly will signal to the World (and its authoritarians) that Minneapolis stands by its commitment to be a place of refuge for immigrants fleeing war, poverty and oppression and those seeking opportunity.

By becoming part of this living work of art, you’ll help create a visible reminder that the Declaration of Independence speaks to all people and that the pursuit of freedom and dignity is a shared American value.

Bring your family, friends, and neighbors. Participate in the art action, then stay to enjoy music, poetry, conversation, and community. We’ll gather with Singing Resistance, local poets and musicians, and one another. You can even stay and have a picnic in the park.

Whether you come to make art, celebrate community, express your values, or simply be part of something unforgettable, your presence matters. Registration strongly encouraged.

Raise your torch. Stand with your neighbors and be a light in the darkness.
